10 months...

When I found out I was pregnant, I knew I needed to document my continually growing belly... it is amazing how a womans body does exactly what it needs to do to grow this little person... it really is a miracle....

Every Monday we would set up the camera and Ryan would take shots of this growing lump of a baby.... thinking back on my pregnancy it is hard to believe I was pregnant for nearly 10 months.... at the time it seemed sooo long.... probably because I couldn't wait to meet this little person inside me.... but now I can hardly remember what it was really like.... and it has only been 3 months....

Here is my pregnancy... start to finish...

WEEK 37!!!
My last pregnancy picture was at 37 weeks, I must have got lazy on my 38 week picture day.... I went into labour that night.... it would have been a treat to see what I looked like that day.... I know I was pretty miserable.... the weather was 30-some degrees and Jet was sitting soooo low.... it was my first day of maternity leave and I felt like I could hardly walk because of all the pressure in my pelvis.... I had my first contraction that night.... more on that another day!

Overall pregnancy was good for me... this time around... it wasn't until the end that the discomfort and swollen feet really caught up to me.

Now I get to enjoy this new little man....

Jet... the day he was born...
As much as I enjoyed being pregnant... it is so much better to have him in my arms than in my tummy!

.... til next time.... xo

Oh... Hi there....

It seems a couple years ago I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog; as you can see I quickly forgot about it...  I think back on my life when I made those first 2 posts, and how incredibly much it has changed in the last 2 years.... it is no surprise I lost track of keeping it documented on here, I was too busy living life and enjoying every second of it!!

Banff for J&J's Wedding
I remember when I started this blog, we had just moved into our house and were living in the basement suite and renovating the main floor...I thought I might find the time to document the events of DIYing, but clearly that took up way too much time and I never got around to posting about the success we had in creating our home...

As I reflect on these last few years I realize how much has happened and I could probably publish a book detailing it all, but the baby is sleeping and I really don't have that kind of time anymore!! Here are the bulletpoint highlights of what Ryan and I have been up too...

-Hiked the West Coast Trail
WCT
-Capital City Cranes was created
2nd Annual CCC Camping Trip
-Celebrated a tonne of weddings for Friends and Family all over the place (Edmonton, Banff, Canmore, Mexico, Las Vegas, Vancouver, Sylvan Lake)
My stunning sister on her wedding day!
-Hiked the Inca Trail to Macchu Piccu
Hiking the Inca Trail, Peru
-Learned to enjoy the beauty of Edmonton and all that it has to offer, we are so blessed to live in such a fantastic place
-Trained for our first marathon together and participated in the Edmonton Marathon in August 2012
Edmonton Marathon 2012 Finishers
-Visited New York City with plans of participating in the NYC marathon, however it was canceled due to hurricane
The NYC marathon we didn't run.....
Times Square
-Visited Hawaii (Last trip before baby!)
Waikiki Beach, Hawaii
-Folk Fest!!!
-Dinner Clubs
-Warm Patio summer nights

I feel like so much more has happened but these are the clearly the things that come to mind first, hopefully one of these days I can get into detail more fully about each of these events...

In the last few months we have had one especially exciting adventure begin in our lives, the adventure of parenthood, and what an incredible experience it is turing out to be. On May7, 2013 my son Jet James Stiksma was born and I am a forever changed person because of this little human being.... it is amazing how this one little individual can turn your world upside down (in a good way of course), and I want nothing more in the world than to keep my little family safe and secure.

This blog is for my family, for me,having a child has put so many things into perspective, sure, my everyday routine has changed and that probably won't ever be the same again, but I have realized being a parent means being the best person I can be for this little man and my husband.... I know this adventure is going to be the best one yet for Ryan and I!
Couldn't forget to include this foxy girl!
