....Happiest of Halloweens....

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween!!! From this little Owl to all of you, have a safe night Trick or Treating.... or handing out candy.... or however you are celebrating this year I hope it is enjoyable..... and hopefully you have lots of chocolate to chow down on afterwards!!

The kids at the Halloween Party yesterday were adorable, the costumes were great, espeically the homemade ones.... one of these years I will get my act together and put something together on my own.... for now the store bought kind is easiest!! Here is a group shot of the little munchkins....and the proud mamas....

.... I will also note, there were a few more kids that didn't make this shot, Jet and Martin both weren't feeling the Halloween vibe before we took these shots, we got the above shot at the end when some of the kids had already been picked up....

Here are the cranky-pants themselves... Jet is giving all the other kids the stink-eye!

As much as I love the cutenes that goes with having a child I can dress up for this time of year, I feel like this week has been an overabundance of Halloween festivities, leaving both Jet and I tired and annoyed with it all.... don't get me wrong, I was so excited when I found Jets costume, and I am a totally smitten mama when it comes to dressing him up.... but at the end of the day, with a child this young who has no idea what is going on I have to ask myself the question.... Who are we really doing this for??? Ha! We have had some sort of Halloween event everyday this week, and  Jet is so disinterested in putting on his costume.... along with that, the over-stimulation he gets from seeing all the other costumes is just too much..... he has had a few breakdowns this week and  I think next year when he actually knows what is going on, it will be a whole lot more enjoyable!!

.... tonight we are meeting up with mys sister and Dierks.... I can't wait to see how his costume came together.... more on that tommorow!!

...my little skeleton...

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

This was an Instagram post from last week, and I couldn't resist having this picture on my blog too.... I purchased this little outfit while we were in the States last month.... the hat barely fits him, but isn't he just the best.... I know, I know, I'll stop...Ha.... I am just such a proud mama!

....we have had a string of Halloween events these last few days.... we have already gotten our moneys worth in uses of Jets costume and Halloween isn't until tommorow.... hint... this isn't Jets real costume.... can't wait to share the pics of his first Halloween!

...a Heisenberg Halloween...

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

....Ryan and I were pretty much obsessed with everything about the television series Breaking Bad, we started watching the first season on Netflix sometime in the summer and managed to watch every last episode in time for the season finale that aired at the begining of October.... to say we were sad when it ended would not be a lie.... the show was so well written and the charaters and story line always left us wanting to see more....

... a few nights ago we purchased our Halloween pumpkin.... if it were up to me the pumpkin would have had a triangle mouth, nose and smile, but Ryan was feeling much more ambitious.....  so when he asked me to help him find a picture of Walter White online, I was curious to see how it would all turn out....

....it ended up going great, Ryan purchased a Charlie Brown Carving set from Target in the sale bin for $3.00, and he was ready to go..... here are some pics from the carve, along with the final product!!

....Fit RX: Barre Body Studio....

Sunday, October 27, 2013

....I have been getting back into a pretty good workout routine..... these last few baby pounds are oh so difficult to melt away, I am trying not to stress myself out too much about them, I mean it is a struggle some days to find the time to get a workout in, but I know how important it is for my mind, body and soul to get moving..... I always feel better when I am incorporating fitness into my life, and I make healthier choices all around when I am not being lazy.....

....finding new and fun ways to try and melt away the extra lbs is always a win, so when my sister invited me to register for the newest craze in fitness I was very interested.... and a little apprehensive.... I mean I am no dancer.... and definetely no ballerina (Ha!), but neither is Jaclyn so I figured I should check it out with her and see what this Barre Body Studio is all about!

I just have to start off by saying we had a blast, our instructors name was Elisa, she is also one of the owners of the studio.... the class was one hour long and worked out all the areas I need working on (ie. full-body workout...)..... the class was fairly low-impact, incorporating a few weights for the arm excerises and a small ball for some of the glute excercises....

there are mirrors all over the place so you can check out your form.... (or in my case lack there of....) I am in no way, shape or form a dancer, but I did feel kind of like a ballerina in one of those movies standing next to the barre and doing plie's until my legs were shaking....

By the end of the one hour session I was ready for a beverage from the juicing bar in the foyer....mmmm so good.... and just what I needed after working off a few cals.....

The studio in Edmonton is brand new, but the company has been running out of Calgary for a while now.... I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a "change of scenery" in the fitness department, although the class has elements of yoga and pilates, it has its own unique vibe that isn't like anything else!

....celebrations: Little Man Mustache Party

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

This past weekend was slam-placked with fun activities....on Sunday we celebrated the newest little man in our family, Baby Dierks... and what a fun day it was!!!

I had a blast planning this event with the help of my mama; after the shower my sister pulled off for myself and Jet, I knew I couldn't leave any detail out for this special day!

I found these cute little invites and knew this had to be the theme for the afternoon party! The mustache theme is so popular right now.... it wasn't hard to find items that would help bring my idea together! (Etsy was a huge help for both the invites and the mustache signs I used around the house....)

The little man himself!

The afternoon was so much fun, Jaclyn and Dierks were showered with so much love (and the cutest little presents!) from all the ladies that attended!

Thanks to everyone who came out and took part, we were so happy you could be there!

..... in the army.....

Saturday, October 19, 2013

..... my brother left for the Quebec last Sauturday morning.... he will be gone until February to complete training for the Canadian Forces.... ever since I can remember Blake has been interested in anything and everything army related.... from the war movies he watched with my dad, to his paintball and army fatigue obsession.... his dream of getting into the army finally came true last week when he got the call he had been waiting for.... he only had a few short day to say his goodbyes... and now he is off in the land of military training.... learning to make his bed with an envelope pleat, shine his shoes and march like a soldier.....

On Friday, myself, Jet and my Dad went down with my brother to Canada Place to see him get sworn in and begin his 3 year commitment....

I could not be more proud of you Blake! If only everyone had the determination you do to make their dreams come true.... you are making them happen and I have no doubt that you will succeed! I can't wait to hear about how it is all going!
